!!! Finally got to wear the black robes on 10/07/07. Too bad they didn't get us hats too. Tough on the financial front I guess, for GITAM! ;)

I had expected the convo to be a bit of a drag with only the hats to make me feel good. Guess I was wrong. The whole thing lasted less than anhour with everyone wanting to get over with it at the earliest. Not many turned up too. Not much of a convocation when the college topper and half the students don't turn up, is it?
Nevertheless, the shutterbugs had a good time going click-crazy.

I'd thought i'd seen the last of this hellhole, but guess not! will have to go back for da TC and grade sheets, shelling out atleast another Rs.2000 in the process.
Like the say, the older you grow, the less money you seem to have.

101 reasons to hate my college ...

Life at GITAM has been far from satisfying. far from enjoyable. far from anything I experienced at school. I could list out a zillion reasons to hate this hellhole but 101 reasons can't be too few, can they?!

1. internet that's slower than a sick snail
2. power cuts - power only goes off when you're studying or LAN gaming
3. food - that even dogs would think twice about eating
4. winters without hot water - are we in college or survival camp?
5. watchmen - who think they're GOD as long as they've got a big gate to save them from our wrath ! x(
6. lecturers - who can't speak english and can't teach a subject and can't handle 60 students
7. subjects like environmental studies
8. field work - for environmental studies ?! oh well, atleast we got a look at the white tiger
9. control systems lab - SARASWATHI DARLING
10. dc machines lab - SARASWATHI DARLING
11. ac machines lab - SARASWATHI DARLING
12. people with a misplaced sense of self-respect and self-admiration
13. caste - who cares! !@#$%^&*(
14. zombie girls - in class ... they came, they sat, they left
15. cheats - uh....
16. weather - not really the college's fault, is it?
17. classrooms - yeah, great for 10 students, not bloody 65!
18. benches - that were carved by adam and eve

31. transcripts - that are so 'genuine' universities reject them

35. studying like hell - books 24X7? not my style. seeing ppl like that makes me go crazy

The reasons ... again

I juz can't think of anythin to write about. Which makes me wonder why I started blogging at all.
I gave it quite a lot of thought (wish I would think this hard about my subjects ;D) ...
1. Let me just state the obvious reason first - every old cat and her rocking-chair grandma blogs. There must be something in this, I decided.

2. Doing your BE in Vizag can get more boring than watching Shivnarine Chanderpaul bat in a test match.

3. A blog can be a really neat tool to catch the attention of ppl who don't seem to listen.

4. I'd like to say that this is a perfect place for me to share my knowledge and ideas. But the bare truth is, blogs are a nice little place for rumors, rants and revolutions (don't ask me about the last one.. juz alliteration :D)

5. Lastly, since paper and pen are rare commodities in an engg coll hostel, I figured blogging would help clear the rust that's accumulated in my very rarely used brain.

This post hasn't taken even a fourth of the time I took to think about what to post.

Next time, no time waste.. only bakwaas. :D

This is a photo os me with some of the guys at the farewell party our juniors threw us. The party was unexpected and the party was a damp squib... literally, with the gods somehow confusing our open-air disco masti with primitive rain dance. :D

The party was more like a ragging session. There was no participation from the oh-so-boring girls and we guys were all hell-bent on scandalizing the rest of us.

There was no emotional sobbing/hugging, nothing... not that i'm complainin about it!!

We came, we ate, we...err... we left. Heck, we didn't even have the patience or the mood for a proper group photo!

A paradoxical situation

The one song I've been listening to a lot of late is TIME by pink floyd.When I had initially started blogging, I did so assuming I would have a lot of "free" time. But, as it so often turns out in life, I was so very wrong. I have not a minute to spare ( How TF then did I manage to find time to write now?). The whole of September got smoked up in the web of GRE and the 'october heat' this time is almost too much to bear, what with all the internals, projects, seminars, presentations, mid-sems and finally the end-sems. Considering I usually do one day batting, my nervous system has been reacting badly to the fact that I am actually tensed up about the exams. But then, I have only 40% attendance and all that attendance was for the labs and to submit my project... so it is pretty obvious I should be sweating since I don't even completely know the names of the subjects for this sem.
I doubt if any of my prof's know my name... or atleast know that I exist.
Hazily have i written the above. I know not what it means. It's 2.30 AM and my alarm is going out to blare out the first few seconds of B.Y.O.B at 4.30am. 2 hours of sleep is way too much during slog time. I need to get rid of my laziness.
Again, TIME is of the essence, but sadly, I have but none.

Why blog? I've been pondering over these two words since I first read about blogging in the "Technology" section of a newspaper. Why would anyone spend so much time typing out their thoughts for the open public to read? I realise that this first blog of mine has come several months after blogging has actually caught on as a global craze. Then one day, um, today, I realised blogging was a good way to liberate myself from the clutches of this boring life of an engineering student. Also, it was a good way to galvanize the gray matter to better my rusty english writing ability, considering I haven't written anything considerable in these 3 years of non-english speaking environment.
Also, the good thing about blogging is you can write about absolutely anything and for people like me, it's better than having to maintain a diary, which is such a pain anyway.
